This glossary defines commonly used Psoriasis terms, including products and medications used in the treatment of psoriasis and other skin conditions that co-exist with psoriasis such as acne, rosacea, eczema and dermatitis.

Flare-ups: Sudden outbreaks.

Florone®: By Dermik, (Diflorasone) topical high to very high potency corticosteroid, used to treat a variety of skin conditions. Also sold under the brand name(s): Florone E®; Maxiflor®; Psorcon™

Fluex: (Fluocinonide), a high potency corticosteroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Fluonex® , Dermacin, Licon, Lidex, Lidex-E

Fluonex®: (Fluocinonide), a high potency corticosteroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Fluex, Dermacin, Licon, Lidex, Lidex-E

Fluonid: (fluocinolone), a topical steroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Derma-Smoothe/FS, Flurosyn, FS Shampoo, Synalar, Synalar-HP, Synemol

Flurandrenolide: anti-inflammatory low to medium potency topical corticosteroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Cordran®, Cordran® SP, Drenison®.

Flurosyn: (fluocinolone), a topical steroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Derma-Smoothe/FS, Fluonid, FS Shampoo, Synalar, Synalar-HP, Synemol

Fluticasone: a corticosteroid used to reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with many skin conditions available as a cream or ointment. Also sold under the brand name(s): Cutivate®.

Flushing: Reddening of the face similar to blushing. Skin rash associated with rosacea. Occurs when a larger amount of blood flows through vessels quickly and the vessels expand under the skin to handle the flow

Folliculitis: (Barber's Itch) Damaged hair follicles become infected with bacteria, resulting in skin rashes and pimples around the infected follicles. The infection can spread.

FS Shampoo: (fluocinolone), a topical steroid. Also sold under the brand name(s): Derma-Smoothe/FS, Fluonid, Flurosyn, Synalar, Synalar-HP, Synemol

Fungal Infections: Microorganisms that live on the skin cause fungal infections. These microorganisms live off dead skin cells, and are usually not a problem, but under the right conditions they can reproduce rapidly, leading to fungal infection
